Visit from Haiti Missionaries

Just watched Russ & Sherrie Cole back down our driveway to head to Orange City, Iowa to visit Sherrie's sister. Sheila and I, along with Jason and Kara spent the better part of Monday with the Cole's catching up and sharing about the trials and joys that are a part of living in Haiti as missionaries. The commonality is God's command to help orphans and widows, and those less fortunate. We who live in the United States assume that God has chosen us to live this good life unaltered by anything that would inconvenience our daily lives. Why do we assume that we are better off than those who live in Haiti? Materially yes! But spiritually, no! Everyday, Haitians seek God for everything they need to survive. We pull out our debit card and never look back. So, realizing that we alone can never change Haiti and that we will become really frustrated if that is our goal, we press ahead to the day when all "Christians" will inherit a heavenly kingdom that is, for now, unseen. And until that time comes, we can only do what God has called us to do, whether in Haiti or elsewhere. We are called to work in Haiti - not to change it. Change will only come through the youth as they are educated and skilled in tools that they will then, in turn - change the country! Please continue to pray for Haiti. Please continue to pray for those who are called to work in Haiti. Please consider how you might help those who are called to work in Haiti, whether it be through financial gifts or your physical presence as part of a work team. Much work is yet to be done in Haiti. Can you help us?
