My goal was to frame and pour 14 structural columns on the new school wing addition. We finished 13 of them. The last one is an add-in by the engineer (Don) to help carry the load of the walk-way which runs between the two buildings. I’m pretty sure we will not need to extend it other than a partial way to help with the handrail system that will be installed after the steps are put in. Hopefully, the photos will show. The next phase is to lay the block walls in between the recently poured cement columns. This will be done over the next month until we return in August. Subsequent teams will then frame the bond-beam over the top of the cement columns and block walls to tie everything together structurally. Once this is poured and cured, another team will build the roof rafters, install them and put on the metal roof, tying the two roof lines together. Also, the stairwell from the lower level to the 2nd story needs to be built. I have taken all measurements and photos for my architect back in Iowa, who will prepare design ideas and structural suggestions. Then windows and doors will need to be installed. After that, paint, flooring, chalkboards, electrical, and all sound & video lines will have to be put in. A lot to do before school re-opens October 1st. And, with another grade being added, more finished room will be needed. We also have 2 cement floors in the lower addition that need to be poured as soon as possible. Then there is scraping and cleaning up the new cement block walls, plus landscaping and grading. What can you do? How can you help? Please consider what God would have you do! If you can’t come to work could you pray about your involvement? As this foundation grows & expands its educational ministry here in Haiti, the monthly amount of financing needs increase greatly. Is this the area God would have you support?
